Dinner Meeting:  M
r. Paul S.H. Lau,
Canadian Consul General in Guangzhou

The China Canada Business Association welcomed Mr. Paul S.H. Lau, the Canadian Consul General in Guangzhou to Calgary.

Mr. Lau was in Calgary for one day only.  He shared his knowledge of the opportunities and recent economic developments in the Guangdong area.  He addressed members of the Calgary business community with 2 presentations titled “Emerging Opportunities in the Nansha District, at the Tip of the Peril River Delta” and “Canada’s Trade Action Plan for China in 2002”.

Nansha has been designated area for development of oil and gas and petrochemical industries. The American, Aussies, Germans, Dutch and British are very much gung ho on it.  There is no Canadians presence.  As an important element of his trip out West, he met with the China Canada Business Association Board of Directors and members.  This was a good opportunity to find out first hand what direction this prosperous region of China will be heading and how Canadian Companies can get involved.
