CALGARY's
Chinooks Summers are mostly warm with average temperatures around 24 degrees centigrade. The Winters can be cold at times as temperatures can get down to minus 30. But because the Rocky Mountains are strategically located just West of Calgary, not only do they provide us with fabulous skiing, they help produce the phenomena known as Chinooks. Warm westerly winds travel past the Mountains and are forced below the Chinook cloud formations (the photo shows a typical Chinook arch). Mid Winter temperatures can often reach 15 degrees. Calgary gets more sunny days per year than any other City in Canada. |
